The Trading Post building was erected in about 1950, doing business as Kerley Trading Post. Kerley sold Native American crafts, jewelry, rugs, and baskets. Additionally, items such as groceries, hardware, dry goods and other general store merchandise were sold there. After the development of the Interstate 40 bypass, the building served as an Auto Value parts store until the Old Highway Trading Post was founded in 1988.
